Tennis on Kauai
by Donna Holevoet on 09/17/12
Tennis on Kauai…anyone?
If you are planning a “tennis vacation” I know the perfect destination…Princeville, a small community nestled between the mountains and the sea on the North Shore of Kauai, in the Hawaiian Islands.
Within 2 miles there are 4 facilities offering tennis clinics, private lessons, round robins, and leisure play. If you are a single looking for a game, the clubs have sign-up sheets and you can usually find a match. If you prefer doubles you can play the round robin tournaments. There are 2 tennis clubs in Princeville, both are open to the public, and there are 2 private clubs that offer private lessons and tennis clinics to visitors.
After an exhilarating day on the courts, the blue sea at Hanalei Bay awaits you. Hanalei Bay Beach was voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the World, and is a 5 minute drive from Princeville. In addition to Hanalei Bay there are other breathtaking beaches along the coast surrounded by mountains the color of emeralds, laced with massive water falls. Kauai really is a magical place.
Almost forgot! The average temperature during the winter months is 75 to 80 degrees!
Come join us for Tennis in Paradise!
Aloha!
Kauai MLS Map

Kauai is unique in the Hawaiian Islands. The properties available for purchase are limited and are located in narrow bands of development close to the ocean. Like many of the islands in Hawaii, it is not possible to drive arround the entire island. On Kauai, the Na Pali Coast and its rugged terrain blocks the passage on the North and West of the island. Also, unlike Oahu, there is no road traversing the center of the island.
Our narrow bands of development are divided into into 5 geographic area. The island has a limited number of parcels and the County of Kauai protects development and subdivisions from rapidly increasing the the number. Kauai currently has a total of 11,017 parcels including homes, condominiums and land. (Timeshares are not included.)
The map below shows the percentage of total parcels in each of the 5 geographic areas of the island.
The north side of the island is referred to as "Hanalei" and area "5" and is pictured in RED. It includes Kilauea, Princeville, Hanalei and Haena. This area comprises 11.99% of the total number of island parcels and 1321 parcels on the island
The east side of the island is referred to as "Kawaiihau" and area "4" includes part of Anahola, Kapaa, and Wailus and is pictured in YELLOW. This area comprises 28.66% of the total number of island parcels. This includes 3157 parcels.
The central part of the island is referred to as "Lihue" and area "3" and includes Hanamalu, Lihue and the area arround Nawiliwili and is pictured in GREEN. This area includes 22.29% of the total number of island parcels and includes 2456 parcels
The south side of the island is referred to as "Koloa" and area "2" and includes Koloa and Poipu. It is pictured in BLUE, This comprises 24.76% of the total number of island parcels. This includes 2760 parcels. This includes homes and many vacation rental properties
The west side of the island is referred to as "Waimea" and area "1" and includes Eleele, Hanapepe, Waimea and Kekaha. It is pictured in Purple. This comprises 12.28% of the total number of island parcels. This includes 1353 parcels which are mostly single family homes and land.
